BABY & ME -- Tobacco Free

BABY & ME -- Tobacco Free is a smoking cessation program created to reduce the burden of tobacco use on the pregnant and postpartum population. Smoking during pregnancy is a well-documented cause of premature and underweight births. The program data results have proved effective in decreasing the number of women who smoke during and after pregnancy. Pregnant women who currently smoke or who were daily smokers within three months prior to pregnancy are eligible for the program.

  • Shelby County has one of the lowest smoking rates for pregnant women at 5.7% compared to the state average of 14.2% (2015)
