Youth Advocacy Council


#WEDONTPUFF is a Shelby County youth tobacco prevention initiative created to prevent and reduce the occurrence of youth tobacco use across Shelby County. The #WEDONTPUFF Youth Advocacy Council was created to empower the youth of Shelby County to become leaders and take action against the youth related tobacco problems affecting their peers and communities. The members of the #WEDONTPUFF Youth Advocacy Council will work with their schools and communities to develop ways to advocate against tobacco use amongst their peers.

Eligibility Criteria

  • 8th-11th grade
  • Short essay 200 words
  • Completion of application
  • Minimum of C+ average in all classes

Membership Criteria

  • Monthly meeting attendance
  • Attendance to the 2019 TNStrong Conference
  • Participation in #WEDONTPUFF events and activities
  • Plan and conduct events on National Observance Dates at school or in the community
