What is FIMR

The Fetal and Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) program review deaths of children less than 1-years old living in Shelby County, TN. We analyze information from a variety of resources including medical records, perinatal history, autopsy reports, birth and death certificates. The purpose of the Shelby County FIMR program is to reduce infant mortality by identifying which social, economic, environmental, education factors contribute to infant and fetal loss. 

What We Do

  • Promote Safe Sleep and provide Shelby County residents with FREE Pack N Plays (crib/bassinet). Click on Pack N Play Flyer for additional information. 
  • Host Safe Sleep training for families, healthcare providers, and community organizations.
  • Implement innovative programming throughout Shelby County such as education modules for healthcare providers and students.
  • Our Social Worker provides grief counseling to those families that have recently lost a child. Families are also offered peer support to speak with other families that have experienced fetal or infant loss.
